Lets get in the party spirit

Are you struggling to find something to wear for New Years? Most stores will be going into sale this weekend if they haven't already put those red sale signs in the windows!

First do you have a style icon? Have you got a look in mind? Where are you going to be spending new years?

If your going to your local you don't want to be wearing a ballgown? Unless that's the theme (mine is cocktail party) but if your going to a fancy bar you don't want to be the only one in a camo jacket with military boots!

Last year I took a week to get ready for New Years had an amazing night and got the midnight kiss I wanted! Taking time to think of this outfit could make memories good or bad!

Republic; My neck of the woods, used to be seen as a brand who knew nothing about fashion but knew a lot about how to dress the chavs of England. My friend this has changed. A growing brand and even bigger growth in their knowledge of what looks good. Quirky and fresh this is the new place to be! Take a look at some of my must haves.

£25 in an Oxblood/Plum colour. This is the dress that isn't over fussy, you could wear it again but each time making it different. Team it with a pretty gold necklace or keep it simply and don't take the attention away from the dress by putting it a bangle.
Over the dress I would team it with a jacket. It is still going to be winter and I don't know about you but I HATE being cold!! This will only put you back £15 (its in the sale BONUS!) with the gorgeous lapels and cuffs. This doesn't look like a cheap jacket. The picture doesn't do it justice and it is something that will take you from day to night.
Republic have only just started selling shoes with SCHUH concessions in some stores we are taking over and giving our customers the chance to get the whole outfit from us..... we even do converse! These are from Ravel and cost £85. With Jessie J starting this trend it has become HUGE! If you haven't tried this style of shoe on then you should they may look like they would give your nanna a heart attack but they are the most comfortable things I have ever worn. Also I didn't feel I would topple over once!

Missguided, Off out to the pub? Then this is the outfit I have picked for you. I love going to the pub you can get dressed up a little bit because your going out but it's all about the smart casual I don't have to spend ages an over sized jumper with a nice bottom and shoe is enough!

This top is so cute and will only through you back £11.99 BARGAIN OR WHAT!! I know a few people who have this similar design as a tattoo. Its very simple but perfect for the pub. No problem if someone spills something and is definitely simple enough to wear again.
£12.99 for a hat I think is a tad pricey BUT look at it!? Don't know about you but I love a good bowler hat. They come back year after year and will keep you warm while still making you stand out from the crowd. Not many girls wear hats or so I find so if you are the sort of girl, who wants to look a bit different but isn't daring enough to dye your hair blue then maybe a good bowler hat is for you!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE this!! I am obsessed with Tar tan ever since I saw my friend in a tar tan suit from topshop, and I always wore tar tan when I was younger I was definitely a wanabe scottsman. This Missguided skirt is gorgeous, the whole outfit I have created is very simple however the waist band on this is going to be thing that brings it all together. It's very grunge and very NOW. Enjoy the pub!

Lavish Alice is a small online retailer they don't have as much as the bigger online retailers do HOWEVER they are someone to look out for! With an equally good collection as the likes of BOOHOO and MISSGUIDED they are a strong competitor and I'm sure once they become more established and the name is well known they will be big!

I thought this will be perfect for the clubbers, these girls are relentless they battle their way to the bar and queue to get into the must be place of the night. This dress is perfect. It is eye catching and will make you feel festive even when your sitting in the taxi rank waiting for your ride home. £40 with free delivery. Told you they are good.

This bag is gorgeous!! I love grey clutch bags and it may look like the same one as you get from every retailer but its not!

It's £20 and it's from Lavish Alice..... so go and buy it. Good glad your listening. Grey and Silver is a cute mix, the dress needs something simple but not anything as harsh as black.

River Island I was trying to avoid massive high street stores with this post but I clicked on River Island 'Just to have a look' and OMG how nice is their stuff at the moment so I had to show you my finds.

I am not brave enough to wear this outfit! But I know there are girls out there who will rock it so I really did want to show you. Costing £25 thats not even in the sale is a huge bargain. From the picture everytime I look at it I love it a tiny bit more. I am going for a hunt in my nearest Rover Island to see if it looks the same in person.
As the dress is so edgy I thought I would throw some attention grabbing shoes to go with it. High tops were a big thing for a few months so these with the hidden heel cost £75 and although it seemed like a short fashion moment I don't think it's gone for good so invest in these bad boys!

I hope you have a lovely NEW YEARS EVE party and see you all in 2013. Stay safe.

It's Easter! Why not do some bank holiday shopping

Firstly I would like to apologise and thank everyone who has stuck around during my lack of blog posts. I have been lacking time and a computer. But HOORAY I am back.

I have recently found some beautiful new online sites, they often appear in many of the glossy magazines you read and I personally haven't heard of them before until now.

First there is OWN THE RUNWAY if your looking for something girly maybe for that summer wedding or something unique that your friend isn't going to have then I would definitely recommend taking a look. An added bonus it won't break the bank.

Lavish Alice Something for the print lovers out there! There is leggings galore and enough print to keep a zebra happy. If your like me and slightly obsessed with collars at the moment then you too will love this site.

Your Fashion Jewellery  I don't know about you but costume jewellery is my ultimate love. Give me a big ring and quirky necklace and I'm yours forever. But instead of looking on the high street skip the crowds and visit this site. I promise you'll find something.

These 3 sites are all reasonably priced and there is something for everyone. I don't often shop online but now I have found these sites they may have just changed my mind!

Thanks again for reading my blog. I hope you all have a lovely Easter.

I Heart! Henry Holland

Over the Christmas period I had a wonder through Debenhams, personally I'm not a fan of Debenhams it's not somewhere I would choose to shop. However I stumbled across H! by Henry Holland.

I was excited when I first heard that Henry Holland would be in some Debenhams stores, but due to a comp shop I did in the Oxford Circus branch, I felt the store was messy and the H! by Henry Holland department was so small I never returned.

That is until I accidentally came across it in Cambridge. EVERYTHING  I picked up from the girlie tea dresses to the motif jumpers screamed buy me. So I instantly clicked follow on twitter for Mr Holland himself. Kept my eye's open to his fashion week shows and just simply became obsessed!

Now to my pure joy, he is featuring more and more in fashion magazines, such as LOOK and MORE.

London Fashion Week, is in progress and Henry's show has been and gone, with celebs such as Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof gracing the front row.

This collection I didn't think seemed much like Henry Holland of the past, however the bright colours, feather sleeves and bold graphic print did have some elements, that I love from Henry himself.

I thought I would show you some of the pieces, I personally like from the collection. Leave some comments and tell me what you think.

This look reminds me of the MOD's. Love the checkered trousers. Look at those fur cuffs.

More! Magazine Network Night.

Last night, (13th February 2012) I attended an event that has motivated and given me the confidence to continue, with a dream I know a lot of girls have. This is to work in the Media Industry.

For all you guys out there who HAVEN'T got a degree such as myself, you may feel sometimes that having a degree is the only way to get the career of your dreams! I know especially from my own experience, I feel that I am missing out on skills and knowledge by NOT having a degree.

Saying this by attending last night we were given intoductory speeches from the Editor herself, and Creative Director of the publishing company Bauer Media. One of the first things mentioned was you MAY be inspired by something you hear tonight! I love a good bit of inspiration and they weren't wrong. You people without a degree DO NOT FRET! Last night the advice I was given was - Work experience is worth a lot more than a degree. Of course you guys WITH a degree should not fret either because it does get your foot in the door and it does give you skills and knowledge, so basically anyone with a bit of hard work and passion can achieve their dream of working in the Media Industry

The event was set out as speed dating (2 minutes is not long enough!) Where we could ask ANYTHING, it was loud, hot and above all exciting!

The More! Girls were lovely, inviting and very approachable by the time we left it felt like we all worked together anyway! We were given free wine and doughnuts (they know the way to a girls heart) and a lovely goodie bag at the end. However the freebies were not what we all went for! It was all about the advice and it was FLOWING!

Many girls took to twitter to discuss the challenge of "what to wear". I was going to show you my outfit, however as I am producing my blog through my phone I am finding it difficult to upload my pictures. So I will appologise for the lack of visuals!

Here are some tips many of us received last night, I hope they help you as much as they have me!

 Be chatty!
Try and enjoy everything (even the tea making)
Be different. Stand out!
Do relavent work experience
Try smaller Magazines or News Papers
Stay up to date with words and descriptions used by other magazines.

New Obsession.

I am at that age where I want to experiment anything from hair, clothes, boys and now for my new craze TATTOO'S.

I say it's new, although since I have turn't that golden age of 18 I have wanted a tattoo however, my sensible mother (God bless her.) said "if  you want a tattoo wait! If you can't stop thinking about it, then get one." So mum, and other Modele-et-Mode readers I have not stopped thinking about getting my tattoo and I am ready to get inked!

Yes thats right! my no ink body is now going to get the first sign of rebellion. I know exactly what I want it's very meaningful and I think those are the best ones to get. I shall be scaring my body with an anchor, a love heart and my zodiac starsign on my wrist. Yes very common I know but mine has meaning! The anchor represents all my family members in the navy and fishing industry, the love heart represents love and the starsign well thats for me!

While I have been umming and arhhing about booking my tattoo, I have noticed more and more, how tattoos are becoming popular in the fashion industry!

Topshop are creating their own tattoo parlour. Of course the one in Oxford Street I don't think Topshop King's Lynn would get the custom, and designers have been show casing tattoo's on the catwalk. So why the sudden Fashion craze?

Body Shapes

Finding out your body shape is the best thing any woman can do! Once you find it hold onto it, keep it in your purse and take it with you every time you visit any facility where you may find some clothing that will suit you perfectly!

These are the typical body shapes, which one are you?

Inverted Triangle:  This is where your shoulders are bigger than your hips. Look in the mirror, do you look like an upside down triangle? If this is you, you can get away with wearing skirts that float out at the waist. This will balance out your shoulders to your hips. You can wear flared trousers. Basically you want to balance out your top half with your bottom half. This will make your waist look amazing. Have another look in that mirror see how good your waist looks. Show it off ladies.

Column: You my friends are straight up and down. This is a boyish shape a lot of models have this shape however with the right outfit you can have whatever look you feel like. Try double breasted jackets, embellishments to the part of your body you would like to show off work well, do you need a bit of attention on your shoulders to make you look broader then try a blazer jacket with some shoulder pads.

Rectangle:  You again are a boyish body shape but don't threat! You can get away with some amazing dresses. You can pull off the outfits a lot of people can not. For example high necked tops. You can also pull of halterneck dresses. Why not try coats that pull you in at the waist. They will give you a curvier look.

Apple:  You guys tend to hold more weight around your middle. So if you would like to look your best then your best outfits are ones that take the attention away from your middle. Empire lines are perfect! V-neck t-shirts, long tops with detail away from the middle. Look for jackets with buttons below the bust. Try to make yourself look longer by using V style shapes.

Pear:  The majority of the British public are pear shaped. Lots of people get offended by this but just think of yourself as a triangle. Where Inverted triangles are taking attention away from their shoulders you are trying to draw attention TO your shoulders. Your hips are bigger than your shoulders so draw attention to your top half. Bright tops, V-neck shirts, A-line dresses are very complimentary!  Don't be offended you look gorgeous!

Hourglass:  The "perfect" shape. Curvy womanly, the shape everyone wants. Yes ladies you are the one others admire. You look amazing in wrap around dresses, wide leg trousers, vertical stripes and square neck tops will compliment you even more! Team these with waist belts and your look will be complete with everyone wanting your sexy elegant shape.

And that's all folks, take some time to find your shape. There are thousands of websites, books and personal stylists which will help you in quest to find your most flattering look. Take some "YOU" time and become the sexy woman you love. It's a new year, find the new you!

Happy Experimenting!

Don't want to go all Devil Wears Prada on you!

Firstly hello! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry I haven't posted in a while!

Anyway as I was trying to come up with some inspiration as to what to talk about! (I know people will be thinking what on earth is going on!) I noticed something on my twitter feed! Something that I wait for twice a year to be attached with my favourite magazine!

ELLE  The Runway Edit!

For all you non fashionista's Elle The Runway Edit is where us meer mortals get a very small glimpse at the exciting, glamorous, exhausting week that is London Fashion Week!

This year twitter went CRAZY! everyone I follow seems to have been to LFW or were at least observing from the side lines! As some of us (uhum ME!) have to work and are not in the position of going to see the shows I instead, was given the opportunity to attend 2 shows from the comfort of TOPSHOP OXFORD CIRCUS! Wearing some very fashionable headphones, I was able, to really be swept away with the music, print and celebs who attended Topshop Unique show.... (Anna Wintour was there! EEK!)

So I do not feel I missed out and I did receive some free nail varnish from Topshop as a thank you for viewing which was lovely! SO, THANK YOU TOPSHOP!

Now however with my copy of Elle The Runway Edit I can really see what the designers are made of! Although I am fairly disappointed that "The sporty look" has graced the pages again. I will forgive and forget as the rest is pretty marvellous!

I have found a new love for Burberry this year! The deep purple colour of the parka featured in the free mag was gorgeous and the overall collection featured, I felt was like Kate Middleton with a twist!
Gorgeous Parka!

London took the first place for holding my attention although, New York's Calvin Klein collection's prints were very elegant and subtle enough to slip on and wear to the office!

As for the beauty pages, they left me holding on to my make up brush experimenting. Although I don't think I will be attempting to paint my hair red anytime soon!

So quick, hurry, go and pick up Elle this month even if it is just to know what on earth I'm talking about! As for me I'm going to take my inspiration and dress to impress! Roll on February so I can follow it all again.

See the Professionals edit the shows!

x
